The Last Drop 1967
The Last Drop Distillers, Glen Garioch is one of the oldest and definitely the most easterly distillery in Scotland. They produce special limited edition malt whisky and have now produced their first single malt.
The Last Drop 1967 single malt Glen Garioch has taken 47 years in a ‘bourbon-style remade hogshead cask’ to mature into “an elixir of honeyed sweetness, with a hint of apple freshness and a subtle smokiness.” The method was unusual at the time, which makes it more rare.
The cask only provided 118 bottles, they were hand filled and not filtered, then sealed with wax. It is 45.46% ABV. Each bottle is numbered and will be sold at about £4,600 a bottle. They come in a beautiful leather case lined with suede and a 50ml miniature bottle and a tasting booklet accompany each bottle.
For those with deep pockets and a passion for rare whisky, stockists in the UK include The Whisky Shop, Davidoff and Fine + Rare Wines. Trade enquiries need to contact the distillers directly by email at: – firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone on +44 (0) 3289 3767.
